Life with Christ invites us into a profound transformation, one that redefines our very existence. When we embrace the truth that we have been crucified with Christ, it means our old selves—marked by sin and separation from God—have passed away. In their place, Christ lives within us, shaping how we see the world, how we make choices, and how we live each day. This reality is not just theological; it’s deeply practical and offers us a peaceful assurance amid life’s challenges.
Understanding this truth helps us lean more fully into faith, trusting that the love of the Son of God, who gave Himself for us, empowers every step we take. It’s a transformative promise that encourages us to live by faith and not by our own limited strength. As we explore this together, may we find gentle reminders of God’s saving grace and the new life we share in Christ.
Today’s Saving Grace of God
Galatians 2:19-21 (NIV)
“‘For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!’”
Reflection
“I died to the law so that I might live for God….”
For a long time, this was such a confusing statement for me. It took me a while to realize that the “law” was righteous living. There were so many laws given to the Jewish people before and during the time of Christ, and some seemed to think that keeping the law was the way into heaven. In reality, God wants our hearts. Yes, obedience and good deeds are great, but we have to love God first and foremost.
This verse calls us to a quiet surrender, reminding us that our identity is no longer rooted in who we were but in who Christ is within us. It invites us to consider how faith shapes our daily living—how trusting in Jesus changes our responses, priorities, and outlook. There is a beautiful peace in knowing that we are not alone in this journey; Christ’s life within us is the source of strength and hope.
As we reflect, we might pause and listen to what this means personally. How does living by faith in the Son of God reshape our fears, our ambitions, or our struggles? In what ways does remembering His love and sacrifice bring comfort or courage to our hearts?
Short Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for living in me and loving me so deeply. Help me remember that my eyes should be on you, not all the chaos around me. Help me surrender my own will and fully trust in Your strength. May my life reflect Your love and grace as I walk by faith each day. In Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
Reflection Question
In what areas of my life do I need to more fully embrace the truth that Christ lives in me and live by faith in His love?
Closing Encouragement
Remember, the life we now live is not by our own power but by the presence of Christ within us. When challenges arise, let this truth be a gentle anchor for your soul. You are loved, strengthened, and renewed every day by the One who gave Himself for you.
